Staff were extremely accomodating, the room we booked was having issues with the door lock. Ended up getting another room very quickly with no charge.

They speak ENGLISH. It is my first time writing a comment on Booking.com but I just have to tell you how much I liked the place. I stayed in Japan for 4 months but mostly in big cities --> hotels. It was my first time arriving somewhere distant and classic. They are many stories about Japan hospitality but I put them mostly in the fairy tails however, at this inn we were welcomed almost as if we were family members. The owners helped us to plan out next day recommending spots and routs, took care of our needs and helped us with our pains. What I found most amazing was the amount of local sourced and homemade products they used. Overall, I highly recommend the spot for an overnight / 2night stay. It offers comfortable rooms with great design and tasty food. They owners are a definition of Japanese hospitality and if you picture them in the setting of old Japanese town it is kind of a unique experience of Japan that due to tourism was lost in history.

The hotel was in a good location, close to restaurants and amenities. The room was clean but a little on the small side for a family of three. The air conditioning was somewhat weak but thankfully, the weather in Kyoto wasn't hot at night so we were able to open the windows to get some cool air. Other than check in and check out, we hardly saw any staff at the reception desk.

Everything is really clean, rooms are spacious, beds comfortable. Has laundry, a space to leave your luggage. Cleaning is done every 3 days which is great. Location is amazing can walk to everywhere in Kyoto.

This had more of a hotel feel than most of the accommodation on the trip. Liked the inauspicious nature of the facade. Close to a lovely little cafe where a French guy bakes bread and it doubles as a wine bar. Access to great Gion gastronomy and the shopping district. Safe and Serene pocket of busy Kyoto.

Rooms have the basics, but all you need for a comfortable stay in area that's so close to tourist and historic spots. The bed is super comfortable and pillows high enough for my liking.

Seemed very new, everything was clean and in good condition. Small room but comfortable and with useful amenities such as kettle, fridge, good wifi, a few coat hangers (otherwise nowhere to unpack your stuff). There was a microwave, water cooler and 2 washing machines (paid) on the ground floor. Great location, near shops and can easily walk to the river and all the temples in the old town. 5 mins walk from Sanjo station. It’s on a quiet road, could hear people every now and again in the corridor but otherwise was quiet and had a great sleep.

The hotel is located in a very convenient location. Close to many Temples and other city attractions but at the same time in a quiet location. Nice and convenient check-in and check-out. The staff were professional and courteous.

It was clean and comfortable, great value for the price. The location was very convenient- walking distance from a couple different train lines and areas with lots of bars, restaurants, and shopping (including Gion and Nishiki market).
